Danelle is a Graduate of Konawaena High School c/o 1986. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and in Sociology from UH West Oahu in 1996. And in 1998 she earned her Masters Degree in Counseling and Psychology from Chaminade University Hawaii. Danelle has continued to update her education in the Mental Health field by attending relevant continuing education workshops, conferences and seminars. The certifications that she attained from these continuing education courses provides her with relevant and updated information and knowledge in the Mental Health Services field. It also enables her to be current with new techniques, therapies, ethics and laws. This qualifies her to be an effective Licensed Mental Health Counselor for her clients. Danelle has also learned the traditional healing practice of Ho`oponopono. She studied with the late Aunty Marie Ruane, Kumu Ulu Gorman-Kanakaole, and is currently studying with Kahu Kauila Clark.
In 1996, Danelle began her Clinical Therapist career as a Case Manager and Intensive In-Home Therapist with Parents and Children Together (PACT) and Alaka’i Na Keiki. In 1998, she was employed as the Primary Clinical Therapist at Castle Medical Center’s partial hospitalization and day treatment program for young women. She received 2 years of clinical supervision from Psychiatrists and Psychologists of Castle Medical Center, during this time. In November 2001, Danelle began employment with the State of Hawaii Department of Education as a Behavior Health Specialist IV. She provided counseling as a related service for Leeward Districts School Based Behavior Health Program. She created an Intensive Learning Center (ILC) within the DOE’s Leeward District complex. This program served students that needed an alternative educational setting in order to achieve their Elementary and High School educational goals. She gave counseling to students with learning, psycho-social, emotional and behavioral disabilities through individual, group and family-parent sessions. In 2005, Danelle was promoted to a Behavior Health Specialist V supervisor position, supervising other Behavior Health Specialists and Educational Assistants working in the Leeward District. She also and became the Program Coordinator for Leeward ILC. Currently, Danelle is the Supervising coordinator for all Behavior Health Specialists and Educational Assistants working in various campuses on the Leeward District of Oahu.
Danelle is passionate about helping people that may be struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, life transitions and mood and behavior disorders. She has worked with Military personnel and their families, Veterans, blue and white collar professionals, the homeless, the LGBTQ community and many more. She has counseled children, teenagers, young adults, parents and seniors. With a diverse set of skills, pertinent knowledge and unwavering desire, Danelle is dedicated to be a conduit of healing and growth for every person that seeks her counsel.
